Goblin With a Ray Gun
A downloadable One Page Adventure
Farmer Maggot is having a problem with rats* in his basement, and needs a band of plucky adventurers to clear them out. Gather your most expendable low level party and kick off a campaign with an easy** quest they won't soon forget!
Goblin with a Ray Gun is my latest B/X compatible one page adventure, designed from the ground up to be anything but ordinary. There's no random encounters, there's just one super deadly monster (and it's basically unkillable until the party figures out the way to overcome it), and there's a bunch of weird futuristic loot to be nabbed!
Although designed with the BX rules of the original fantasy game in mind, this adventure is compatible with almost any OSR or fantasy rpg system of your choosing. Goblin With a Ray Gun can be completed in a single session, so works great for one-shots or as a way to kick off a sandbox campaign, or just drop it into your own setting anywhere a farmhouse would fit. This adventure can be pretty deadly, so be sure to bring a backup character or two, encourage planning over head-on fights!
BONUS CONTENT: Additionally you can now find the free supplement "Goblin With a Ray Gun: OH GOD WHAT THE F*CK IS IT DOING NOW!?" in the downloads. Add new areas to the map, give the goblin new weapons & equipment, and add random events for additional mayhem! These were cut content and ideas that I thought I'd throw together to increase longevity and/or replayability for the adventure, or to make it viable for higher level play with more challenges. Add to taste!
This adventure is free to download. If you like the adventures I make, please follow me on itch for more free content for OSR games, and check out my blue sky account for sneak peeks, illustrations, and additional content.
*It's not rats. It's a goblin with a ray gun.
**it's far from easy.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Goblin with a Ray Gun and adapted it into a peculiar adventure involving UFO stealing cows. On my table, I omitted the farmhouse section and had players step on the backs of cows that were lifted into the air, essentially climbing onto the UFO like climbing staircase. One of the PC unfortunately gets implanted with an anal probe in Room 6, which may attract more UFOs. I also added various buttons in Room 11 of the UFO, including a conspicuous nuclear explosion warning icon ☢️ (who could resist pressing it?). I made Meepo a friend of the PCs, but as soon as she emerged from the ventilation duct, they nervously beheaded her. Meanwhile, they were engrossed in playing with a lightsaber that could only be activated by singing the Imperial March BGM! Furthermore, I can’t help but speculate that humans might have evolved from ancient goblins. I seamlessly integrated this adventure into my campaign, introducing the UFO conspiracy narrative without any prior notice. Everyone enjoyed the X-Files BGM I played!
P.S. I post a Chinese translation!
Thank you for sharing your experience with your group, I never expected my adventure to be used in such a way and that sounds like an amazing fun time! Poor Meepo lol!
